About You
A very good scheme. The people at the firm are very friendly and welcoming and I felt I always had enough work to do.q
All of the work I was given was directly relevant to the work my supervisor was undertaking and would be useful to them and their client.
Both of my supervisors were very helpful and supportive. They gave me lots of advice from their experiences at city law firms.
I learned a great deal about the practice areas available at city law firms and I developed my research skills so that I could apply myself to practical commercial problems.
The Company
The scheme was well-structured with most training sessions being held first thing in the morning or at lunchtime so as to not disturb the rest of your day in the office. Unsure why 3 weeks was neccessary rather than 2 weeks.
Everyone I worked with at the firm was very friendly. I met a large range of trainees and all were very welcoming and willing to give me advice where they could.
There were many explanatory talks about the firm's practice areas however I did not feel these talks really taught me anything transferable. I learned a lot about research from the tasks I was set in the office.
Although I was not particularly busy with work I got a good idea from speaking to trainees about their workload and the types of work they were completing.
The firm was extremely friendly and welcoming. The environment was very relaxed.
I got a good feel for the training on offer, the work I would be expected to do and the working environment. A very good scheme for helping me choose my future career path.
Everything Else
£350 per week.
Yes there were a range of vacation-schemer-only, trainee and partner events to meet other members of the firm.
There were few social events and were largely just drinks or food but they were useful nonetheless.
I heard a lot about the activities on offer to employees through word of mouth although a formal presentation may have been useful.
Very very good scheme for deciding if a city law firm is for you.
