    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I had really interesting work, had the opportunity to work with like-minded people and learnt about the wider operations and markets of the business.

    4/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • Colleagues were excellent at providing feedback and including me e.g. in team meetings.

    4/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • My line manager would regularly check up on me, other members of the team were also keen to make sure I was productively engaged and seemed to look out for suitable tasks.

    4/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • Busy but often without specific deadlines.

    4/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • Typical tasks involved background research for other team members, which was important but not essential. However, given my level of experience, the amount of responsibility felt appropriate.

    3/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I think the commercial awareness, and academic context to an extent, has given me definite ideas about future careers and has direct links to degree studies.

    4/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • The atmosphere in the office was quite serious on a day-to-day basis, but people were always happy to chat and often organised lunches/after-work drinks etc.

    3/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • The placement was well set up, with no real problems with HR/IT etc., and other team members seemed to have had some time to think about my role and potential tasks before I got there.

    4/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • I would say the whole internship felt like a 'personal training and development' process, whilst actually working on the job.

    4/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • 3/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • I've had some discussions with my line manager about the importance of keeping in touch with him and the team, and how after further study I would be in a good position to work for the company.

    4/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • Colleagues were fairly regularly organising social events and activities (meals, drinks, films etc.)

    4/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • I was commuting into central London, so travel costs were quite high, as was the cost of socialising, yet other colleagues were quite good at finding cheaper options.

    3/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • Partly due to needing to travel home, I didn't totally get to experience the area's nightlife, but went to a few pubs with colleagues and friends in the area.

    3/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • As mentioned above, colleagues would organise social events, including barbecues, drinks etc.

    4/5
