The Role
Support was excellent but unfortunately my manager was away for the last few weeks of the internship.
The workload tended to be variable but I never felt unduly pressured.
I felt that my work was important and by the end of the internship the team trusted my work to be accurate.
The work I undertook on the internship has tied in closely with work I have done at university and allowed me to use skills in a practical setting.
The Company
There was an excellent atmosphere in the office. Everyone was friendly and approachable, wanting to make sure that you were enjoying your time. The open plan nature of the office really created a community vibe.
The internship was well organised, with us being informed what team we would be working with in advance. HR were really helpful in sorting out placements in other teams but perhaps as the graduate scheme is rotational it would be nice that this would be incorporated in the internship to begin with.
The first two dyas of the internship were spent in training which covered some of the basics of asset management, regulation and M&G's competitive positioning.Through out the internship there was a series of 'Lunch and Learn' sessions in which members of different departments would talk to you about what they did.

The Culture
As there wasn't a huge number of interns it meant that we all got quite close and we often went for lunch and drinks together.
Given it was London not as expensive as I thought.
The city of london, so lots of pubs and bars for afterwork drinks.
There was a number of opportunities to join in, for example some of us went and joined in with the netball team one evening.
