The Role
I really enjoyed my 6 weeks at BDO's audit department. I was given responsibility similar to a graduate trainee and was given a chance to intereact with clients very early on.
I felt trusted by my colleagues to carry out important work.
My manager was quick to find work for me and always made sure I had a variety of clients to work with.
Some days were busier than others but majority of the time I had work to do.
I felt like a very valued member of the team and trusted to do work similar to that of an audit trainee. Being out at a clients as part of a small team, I needed to learn various concepts and tests very quickly.
I have a much better understanding of auditing and the experience has made me certain I want to pursue the ACA. The skills I picked up during the internship will prove to be invaluable in the future.
The Company
Everyone was friendly. A bit of banter going on.
Felt it was very well structured. Arranged to be at clients from day 1. Training week and last few days in London were very well organised as well.
Gave me a great understanding of audit which came at the cost of managers and trainees time.
National Travel
Company Parties/Events
Waiting to hear back whether I have a grad job.
The Culture
Great nights out in London and Birmingham during training week and sending off party.
Great prices in Manchester, cost of accommodation is reasonable also.
Great night life in Manchester
National football tournament and North West golf competition took place while I was there. Drinks take place first Friday each month which is subsidized by the firm.
