The Role
The work was tedious and I wasn't given enough really until the end of the internship, but the people I worked with were great.
Everyone was really nice and made an effort to have me included in after work drinks and team nights out
The managers were extremely nice and fair with me but they didn't give me enough work to do during the internship.
I was idle for most of the day during my time there, trying not to get caught going on the news because I didn't have enough work.
By the end of the internship I was running my own checklist so as much responsibility as could have realistically been given to me was, however I was never challenged while I was there
It helped I guess to experience working in an office environment and my excel skills improved but other than that nothing else really. You could do the job going through the same routine every day without really knowing what or why you were doing something.
The Company
Everyone was really nice and there was a bit of banter, but as it was an office it wasn't like you could go mad.
There didn't seem to be any sort of overall internship program beyond sticking you in a team and then letting them deal with you. There was the odd talk given to interns every week or two but any after work stuff we had to organise ourselves.
While they gave me the skills to come back and work a processing job for the company and learnt a little bit of what goes on behind the scenes of trading I never really learnt anything of particular interest or any skills I could bring to another more hands-on job.
Subsidised Canteen
Sports and Social Club
Subsidised/Company Gym
Company Parties/Events
I'd never come back and start a job from the bottom up but a managerial role would be more appealing, dealing with people rather than looking at spreadsheets all day.
The Culture
ll the other interns were sound but any times we met up we had to organise it ourselves, Citi didn't help
It's Dublin so accommodation is expensive and you could burn through cash if you didn't keep an eye on it
Dublin city centre so plenty of pubs.
There was a gaelic football team that played every week or two but no tag rugby or 5 a side or anything like that which was disappointing
