About You
Really enjoyed the placement, the others on the sheme and also the current trainees were extremely welcoming. It was a great mix between work and some really enjoyable social events.
Right from the beginning we were involved in real work and were able to help trainees, associates and partners on a broad range of matters. It felt as if I was genuinely helping the departments I was in, rather than just completing tasks for the sake of it.
Even before we started there was a welcome event and plenty of email correspondence from graduate recruitment. At the firm, there is such a genuine inclusive culture. Everyone is willing to take time out to explain anything and you don't feel uncomfortable asking questions. There is great support from start to finish from all levels of the firm.
We had a really informative presentation skills session that will help me in the future. Also my legal research skills were greatly improved as a result of the work I was doing in my department.
The Company
The schedule is constantly tweaked following feedback from previous schemes. There is an excellent balance between work and socials, with regularly reminders sent via email to ensure that everyone is aware of what is going on. The half day on the last Friday followed by a lengthy lunch is a really good way to round off an excellent 3 weeks.
Really positive. Everyone seemed to be enjoying it and as an intake we often socialised outside of the organised events among ourselves and also with the trainees, who likewise seemed very positive about being at the firm.
We were given IT training, presentation training as well as regular feedback on much of the work that we completed.
Spending so much time with the trainees both in the office and outside it gave a really good insight in to what it would be like to train there.
Got to see that the inclusive culture that they advertise so heavily is indeed very accurate.
Great insight in to the life of a trainee in the city.
Everything Else
We are paid £270 per week.
Organised lunches with people from all levels of the firm, including the managing committee. Equally, it was very easy to arrange an informal coffee or lunch with members of the firm on an individual basis.
Really enjoyable. Curry night, bowling, pizza making and plenty of lunches to keep us entertained and also a chance to meet/ network.
Yes. Heard about the charitable work on offer, as well as the sports teams and other areas that employees can get involved in.
Absolutely.
