The Role
Enjoyable throughout. Great insight to the work environment and the types of roles available. Also opportunities to spend time with the other interns
I did feel valued and when spending time with colleagues they were very helpful but unfortunately there were many holidays and this made it difficult to build many strong relationships
Very good support from my line manager but also given the freedom to work independently
Varied. Some weeks there was plently of opportunities to shadow meetings and others the centre was quiet
Difficult environment in which to be given responsibility however I was given access to all the systems and was able to communicate with departments as if I was a full time employee
On reflection I gained various skills and appreciate the significant investment in training that HSBC provides
The Company
Quiet overall, due to the nature of the role many managers spent a lot of time out of the office with clients
Difficulties with access to the systems to begin with but constant updates followed. Induction and celebration day very well organised. Having a line manager who was familiar with the graduate programmes helped significantly
As mentioned earlier HSBC is keen to invest in developing its workforce and this was no different as an intern
National Travel
Company Parties/Events
Very appealing
The Culture
Understandably events were limited due being spread out across the country however when together there was a good atmosphere and feeling of togetherness
The North is cheap compared to London
Didn't experience any nightlife with work
I went bowling and for a meal which was very enjoyable
