About You
The insight was really useful. During the two week placement I was placed in two departments of my choice. The work was structured so I worked with a different partner or solicitor each day and gained a rounded insight into the practice area. Time was also factored in for practice area overviews in the areas of the firm that I did not get the chance to spend time with. I found that as my time in the office progressed I became more interested in certain projects and legal areas than others and when I approached relevant people who specialised in the work, they were more than happy to furnish me with more information and work with them on interesting consultations and research.
The welcoming nature of the firm was critical to my immense enjoyment over the placement. The trainees understood your position and as a result were continually on hand to answer questions, signpost to persons of interest and in adopting me into the social scene within the firm. The solicitors and partners were pleasant and most helpful; I felt like a valued member of the team and the team in turn were interested in my own background.
The Vacation Scheme was structured so that I was assigned both a weekly supervisor who was typically a qualified solicitor and a trainee. Both my supervisor and the trainee were on hand throughout the week to support and assist me and in addition I was assigned a different member of staff each day who were to provide me with work.
I gained a valuable insight into a commercial firm, undertook tangible legal work and learnt valuable lessons about the practice areas within Pinsent Masons
The Company
Fantastic structure as discussed above
The firm had a fantastically positive attitude to work with a great work life balance focus. Those who worked in the firm really displayed a positive approach to their work ethic showing me that the employees really enjoyed the firm and the work.
