The Role
Learnt a lot, friendly staff and great facilities
All were friendly and appreciative of the work I performed
I was given all help that I asked for
Initially wasnt very busy and ended up doing lots of reading but after a week or two I had much more work and was much more busy which was good.
A little, especially towards the end working on co-ordinating a nationwide project
I learnt a lot more about the geology side of geotechnics which was very useful which im sure will prove invaluable, a great insight.
The Company
Everyone worked hard but always had time to help or have a chat or make you a drink!
Was well organised in terms of no problems with setting me up with a desk or equipment but i think more external guidance to do a generic structure of potential tasks could be useful especially for situations like I experienced in first week with little work to do!
People did take the time to explain things to me if i needed it and i learnt a lot through this
Flexi Time
Subsidised Canteen
Sports and Social Club
Staff Sales/Staff Shop
It would be very appealing, especially once i had covered more on my course and was able to do more of the design/engineering side of things
The Culture
I was the only other student in the particular section of office and didn't really come across many students until towards the end where another student game into my section of office which was good
Was already paying for student house so would have been paying anyway and could live pretty cheaply
Loved it
Opportunitys were there but i wasnt encouraged to take them, but thats probably fair enough over a short period of only 6 weeks
