The Role
My internship was an overall enjoyable experience, despite coming from an English background I never found that I was out of my depth and I was always able to ask for advice.
Trade at Citi is incredibly hardworking but strikes the perfect balance of being sociable too, I was always invtied and involvd with Trade events!
My manager and team gave me fantastic suport and guidance, faultless!
The first few weeks were pretty slow and although I had two projects I was never particularly busy, when however, an analyst on another desk was away and I was asked to get involved with more work I found that far more stimulating and enjoyable!
I was given full ownership of my two projects but I also enjoyed working with others to ensrue tasks were completed.
Having never done excel before, I have gained a good understanding of how to filter, analyse complex data into a clear summary for Seniors.
The Company
Trade was always buzzing!
Although I really enjoyed the internship, I found the communication between getting my offer, to signing the contract, to the processing of all the interns on our first day to be rather disorganised.
Although all of the other divisions received training, our training was just on the job, it would have been useful to have learnt about the data systems, excel and the bloomberg channel.
I would love to work within Trade!
The Culture
As interns we organised our own social events!
I lived around Old Street which was great, not too far from Canary Wharf!
London!
Citi have incredible societies such as sailing, polo and anything you can really imagine but only found out about these opportunities through colleagues, full time analysts were surprised to hear that we hadn't been told about these societies.
