About You
Really good fun. Got good, challenging work to do and lots of appreciation for it.
Everyone was really friendly and gave me lots of positive feedback on what I was doing. Got on really well with all of my supervisors and felt like they genuinely cared about how I was doing.
Everyone was very anxious to make sure that I was finding everything ok and understood what I was doing. The trainees were extremely helpful.
I learned a lot about the areas of law that I was doing and many people were very generous with life and career advice.
The Company
Everything was very well organised.
Really good throughout.
The firm really made sure that you knew your way around the system. We were treated like clients throughout. Presentations and talks were always given in the client meeting rooms or dining rooms and they were always generous with tea/coffee and biscuits.
I thought it was extremely useful and gave a very good and accurate insight into the firm.
Culture is something you can really only experience first hand and Hogan Lovells is really fantastic in this respect. It really is exceedingly laid back and supportive.
Deciding.
Everything Else
I was paid £300 a week which is more than I got at the magic circle firms I went to.
There were multiple events throughout the time where you had the chance to meet people from all levels of the firm. It was particularly nice how much time the partners invested in us as this was something I did not see at other firms.
Very competition/sports heavy which isn't really my cup of tea but everyone still had a good time. They took us to the Ivy for our end of scheme dinner which was a nice gesture.
The trainees especially were very helpful in telling us about this although it was nice to see that everyone including partners and associates get involved in things like 'Legally Ballroom' (Strictly Come Dancing Hogan Lovells style).
Best vacation scheme I did all summer. Fantastic firm with fantastic people. I wish they got the recognition they deserve for the work that they do.
