The Role
I've had a great time doing pretty much everything I was given, and I've felt like I was being really helpful most of the time.
I didn't get into chatting with everybody for a while, because of the way the office was set up, but everybody was really friendly anyway. I get on with everyone in the team.
I'm always able to ask questions, and have had really good explanations of my tasks, and people are eager to help with any issues.
Sometimes I had to ask for work, but it was always provided when I did.
I wouldn't say I was running the show, but equally, I played a key role in many things, which really boosted my confidence.
A lot of what I've learnt is completely useless to my degree, but will stand me in really good stead over my working life. I definitely feel more prepared for graduating next year.
The Company
Everyone gets a long, we take the piss out of each other, but work gets done. I like it.
The overall set up was pretty organised, there wasn't a clear plan about what I would do, but that meant I was involved in a lot of things which was great.
They paid for my PPE, sent me out on site, got me a version of AutoCAD LT, and I had the same access to the free gym membership. It was pretty good really.
Sports and Social Club
Subsidised/Company Gym
Company Parties/Events
Above 25 days holiday
Healthcare/Dental
I would definitely consider taking a job with them, most people in the team have had a placement with them, and I got really positive comments about my work.
The Culture
It's ok, but there aren't many other placement students, so I more tag along with the graduates.
It's quite cheap in Glasgow, but I live with my parents, so I have had a lot of extra cash.
It's Glasgow - some of the best nightlife in the country for any tastes.
Quite a lot of opportunities for work socialising, but since I'm based in my hometown, I didn't feel that I needed to get involved in all of them.
