  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?

    • Great place to work, good social environment. Excellent place to learn and all senior staff are friendly and approachable. I was also involved in interesting projects.

    • Very friendly throughout the company in the offices I have been to.

    • I was always able to get my questions answered. Good guidance available.

    • Good balance, I was given tasks and allowed to work through them in my own time, reporting to senior engineers as required.

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?

    • I was asked to help other people working on jobs, similar to what I have been involved in. Great experience.

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?

    • I expect the skills and experience gained to be especially useful in the coming final year of my degree and my honours dissertation project.

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?

    • I was fortunate enough to be in a very social team and it was good coming in to work.

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?

    • I was given training and then proper project work which was great. I felt like a part of the team.

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?

    • I attended graduate development meetings, aimed at the graduates in the company preparing for professional reviews with the appropriate professional organications (ICE, IStructE, IMechE) which was great.

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?

    • I don't see a reason not to accept a job if offered at the end of my placement.

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?

    • Quite a few other placement students. A lot of events for us and graduates as well as everyone in the company.

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?

    • It was okay.

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?

    • Not particularly good, but not an issue. Many good pubs, no clubs.

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?

    • Weekly 5-a-side games, tennis, touch rugby, basketball. Events with other companies which provide excellent networking opportunities.
