The Role
The culture at Amex is incredible. Everyone (from call centre workers to VPs) is so friendly and always has time for a coffee!
My team were very friendly and the atmosphere was chatty, yet workable. I never felt shy to ask for help. The atmosphere was still professional (which is why I didn't feel quite "like family"!!)
Lots of support. I had weekly 1:1 meetings with my manager to see how I was getting on. Plus, we'd chat throughout the day so they knew how I was getting on.
Busy, but not too busy! I could handle it!
I was given real analyst level work to do and I felt like my opinions mattered.
We had a presentation workshop which has taught me how to present; skills I will take forward with me. I've learnt how to network with senior staff members.
The Company
People were so friendly and asked about your family and actually remembered details about your life. This was more than small talk!
Excellent. I never felt like I didn't know where I was going/doing, yet I was always treated like an adult and never patronised or spoon fed.
Important people took time out to sit with me 1:1 to make sure I understood my project.

It would be an absolute blessing to be offered a chance to return to Amex, but you have to be realistic and it will depend if there are analyst roles available.
The Culture
Amazing! We had weekly socials, including london eye & dinner at the oxo tower, going to a west end show and having a pizza making class.
Living in Brighton, there was a huge range of cost of living, but I had a comfortable flat (shared with another amex intern) for reasonable rent. There are good deals for dinner in the local area.
Being close to the seafront meant we were close to alot of clubs and bars!
Because we had so many socials amongst the interns, we became great friends and made our own facebook group and made our own weekly events!
