The Role
I really enjoy my role at Amex and felt that there was the right structure and environment to develop me as much as possible during my placement year.
The team gave me a lot of responsibility and were really welcoming when I first started. It made me feel confident to have a go at trying new things as well as made the days go much much faster!
My manager was really friendly and answered all of my silly questions!
I always had things to do, but the nature of the job means that there are busy and busier points.
I was so surprised at the reponsibility I was given. I had the same responsibility as people who had been working as finance analysts for 2 years or so. This made the job so much more exciting.
I am really hoping I get offered a graduate role with Amex but if not I feel the skills I have learnt this year will help me in any role I apply for going forward.
The Company
People work really hard but always make time for a good laugh and a joke. It makes working so much easier.
Lots of HR events which were really fun and allowed us to meet different people all over the business. You are also set goals like a proper full time job, which are then reviewed. You always know how you're doing which I think is really important.
So much time and support from other people on the team and analysts as well as people all over the company who would meet with me and tell me a bit about their role to further my knowledge.

I haven't found out yet if I have a role, but I really want one!
The Culture
Really good support amongst the placement students as well with the team. I think the team is more important as the other analysts are the ones that can help you when you're lost!
I lived in Brighton which is big place and there are cheap and expensive places to go. You get a good salary though so I don't see why this would be an issue. My salary was enough to pay rent and support myself easily.
Amazing nightlife! Brighton has something for everyone.
People are busy so it's hard to arrange things, but when we do it's always really fun :)
