The Role
The project I worked on throughout my summer was of great interest to me, the people were always extremely encouraging and helpful, plus we received numerous benefits and events from the HR/campus team.
One of the biggest plus points about this internship for me was that I wasn't referred to as an intern - I was given large amounts of responsibility and felt like a part of the team.
I had at least one meeting with my manager each week where he would always give me fantastic guidance & support on my project. He even went the extra mile and contributed to a key part of my project whilst on holiday.
The work load varied throughout the internship, however this was to be expected given our projects were what we were to focus our efforts on throughout the internship.
Each intern was given their own project to work on over the 10 weeks. The company stressed the importance of our individual contributions, with each persons project adding value to Amex.
The skills I've developed will help me massively in my final year of university & future career. The biggest learnings for me personally have been taking insights from data & presentation skills (creation & presentation)
The Company
A relaxed, positive atmosphere throughout the marketing team.
The whole internship was organised perfectly from start to finish. We received basics training at the start of the internship, were told about the different events & tasks to occur over the summer & knew exactly what was going on throughout.
Training, a mid-internship review, presentations & an end of internship review strongly aided in personal development.
Subsidised Canteen
Company Parties/Events
Staff Sales/Staff Shop
Healthcare/Dental
The summer internship is a filter for the graduate program, giving a good chance to return post-university.
The Culture
Due to the large number of intern events all of the students regularly socialised, inside & outside of company events.
The placement was in London so very expensive if you're not used to London prices.
