The Role
A really great place to work! Great culture and people
Very valued - my colleagues are always saying "thank you for your work on this, you're doing a great job" etc.
I have weekly meetings with my line manager, weekly meetings with my mentor and weekly meetings with my buddy, with whom I am all in frequent contact either via chat or email
Quite busy, but it really depends how many meetings/projects you have going on per day
I was given a significant amount of responsibility in terms of running projects myself and being given the opportunity to show my ability in many different ways
What I have learnt during my internship will be invaluable when I return to university and in future; I have learnt in more detail not only about the asset management industry as a whole but also about the in-depth operational aspects of the firm
The Company
Although it is sometimes quiet and people work very hard, there was a friendly and relaxed atmosphere overall
Campus Recruitment (Hannah, Lauren, Felicity, Ola) realy did a great job organising talks, tasks and fun social events for us throughout the 10 weeks - thank you!
The best think I found about BlackRock was the enthusiasm they have for your personal development. Senior members of the firm would offer up their time and advice to ensure you learn as much as you can and people really encourage you to try and make the best of yourself and your career. There was a huge emphasis on the fact that the internship was a two-way thing - not just them getting to know you, but also you getting to know them and whether they are right for you as an employer.
Company Parties/Events
Healthcare/Dental
Great - with the possibility of being offered a place on the graduate scheme beginning the following year!
The Culture
Yes, interns went out together most weeks, if not organised by Campus Recruitment then amongst ourselves. It was really easy to make friends in a relatively large intern class (around 60)
Central London is rather pricey but to be expected
Quite good - depending on where you go!
Lots of chances to attend after work and lunch time events!
