The Role
Times did get a bit tough but on the whole I enjoyed it immensely. Great people, interesting work and no day was the same!
There's a brilliant atmosphere at Deloitte. I can approach anyone with any concerns. Although this is a multinational business, everybody in the office listens to your issues.
Each employee is given an appraisal manager should they have any problems. If this is not enough, Deloitte has more than enough resources to provide sufficient support.
As this is a high quality professional firm, work is always flowing. This is probably the only downside on the placement as times can get tough! Although, the support is there should you need it.
Placement students are treated the exact same as any graduate joining. As such, you are responsible for your sections of the task and contribute to the team's goals.
Attending this placement has allowed my to develop my skills astronomically. I have learnt much more in my placement year than I have in my first 2 years of university. These are technical skills as well as "soft" skills such as communication. These will be vital in the career I want to pursue.
The Company
Office activities are arranged monthly and are very social.
Deloitte and my uni have been doing the placement route together for many years. As such, there were no issues with setting all the admin up and Deloitte gave me time off for my exams at uni.
As I was treated as a graduate and a potential graduate for the future, Deloitte invested a lot of training and development exercises to better my skills. From events down Birmingham to Aberdeen, I attended each session to help me improve.
Subsidised/Company Gym
National Travel
I have been offered a job upon the completion of my university degree.
The Culture
Month end drinks and other activities were organised every month so the office was extremely social.
Aberdeen is quite an expensive place to live due to the oil and gas industry.
Lots of bars and clubs to chose from with varying themes!
Members of the office can attend a weekly football or badminton sport sessions!
