The Role
The most enjoyable and useful internship/placement I've undertaken.
Over the 6 weeks I was made to feel like part of the team, to the point that now at my final stages of the internship I feel like I'm going to miss everyone in the office. 6 weeks has gone so quickly, but I've been made to feel like I've been working in the office a lot longer.
I was given a project to complete over the 6 weeks which meant that inbetween jobs when there were no tasks set to me by anyone in the department, I could go back to this and not be left without any work throughout the duration of the placement
It's developed my confidence especially. Being someone who was some what "telephone-phobic" the idea of phoning clients terrified me, I now feel confident enough to both make and receive telephone calls with confidence and clarity. This has developed my abilities to communicate efficiently both over the phone, within the office and with any clients.
The Company
Everyone was friendly and although worked very hard, could always allow time for a laugh throughout the office. Different teams were often collaborating with eachother so it meant that there was a great relationship amongst everyone in the entire office.
Both the planners in my department who were looking after me, had holidays booked throughout the placement however I still had tasks and jobs set throughout meaning that I never got bored. Other colleagues within the office also made sure that I had enough to do and wasn't left out at any time.
I accompaineed my mentor to many meetings which meant representing the company well. Answering phones was also a way of representing the company and ensuring that I provided good customer service.
I'd love to work in a pleasant environment like this. The company's organisation and hospitality was outstanding.
The Culture
There was only another student on placement with me at the time and they were finishing a few weeks after I started. As they were in another department I didn't have much contact with them unfortunately.
Overall each day I was doing a two and a half train commute. However this didn't affect my placement.
