The Role
I enjoyed the work I was assigned to, as it matched my interests and skillset. There are a number of events and socials throughout the internship, which are interesting and fun.
Despite being an intern, you are treated professionally. In my team, there was a relaxed and friendly atmosphere, so bonding with and showing value to colleagues comes naturally.
If I needed help, I could ask my manager or my project supervisor. If they were unable to provide an answer, they could put you in contact with the relevant people.
The goals of my project were such that I had enough to contribute for the duration of the internship. On a daily basis, I would have a good balance of work to do
I was given a real-world project to deliver. Though, the scope of this project was limited to ensure it fit the internship time-frame and my skillset.
There is a focus on networking among both interns and full-time employees where possible, and as such the internship is great for finding your feet in a professional environment and developing interpersonal skills.
The Company
My floor was quite quiet, though this reflected the fact people were hard at work! In general, I found my co-workers to be intelligent, compassionate and friendly. This created a good working atmosphere.
The transition into the bank was executed well, and throughout the internship, events were well-managed.
We were able to attend many talks by high-level employees in the firm, and had a number of online training courses to complete to assist our transition into the company.

If you are truly interested in the business, the future employment prospects are very appealing. You need to know your stuff, be passionate and be enthusiastic. Enthusiasm is hard to feign for long, and I personally feel I got into this industry for the wrong reasons. As such, I don't expect to continue. However, this really is a good place to work if financial services genuinely turn you on.
The Culture
The other interns were, on the most part, intelligent, friendly and like-minded individuals, so the social scene was pretty good.
Canary Wharf is very expensive. I lived elsewhere to save money, but still spent a fair amount on social events in the area.
There are plenty of nightlife activities and venues in London.
I was able to participate in a number of football tournaments and a full-day volunteering activity.
