The Role
Really enjoyed the internships, was given a lot of high level work with helped mitigate future risk to bothe the bank and the team. UBS also organised a variety of training opportunites and social events throughout the course of your internship to help you to network with other interns and managment.
The work you do is of genuine use to the bank, as such your collegues are happy to help you with what you are doing and value the work that you produce.
Your team and line manager are there every step of the way to support your work, although if your manager is more senior it is expected that you there are a lot of other requirements on their time. The culture at UBS is very relaxed however meaning that you are free to approach anyone on the management team and can expect them to be helpful.
Useful busy enough to occupy yourself through out the day, although there were occasional periods of relative quiet when you are waiting for work to be reviewed or the people you need to speak with are away on summer leave. It is best to use these periods to sit with other desks and get a feel for the overall view of the bank.
You are given your own project to run and manage your own time, meaning that you can organise your day how you see fit as long as you are meeting deadlines.
Develop a variety of analytical/quantitative skills which are necessary will see you through all walks of life. You also can huge exposure to financial products which is incredibly helpful if you are stufying a banking/finance related degree or are hoping to persue a career in that area.
The Company
Everyone was very chatty and had jokes about current events. Some teams organise weekly/monthly social events.
Very well structured 9 weeks, weekly training was given as well as talks by important people at the bank. Structured social events were organised every 3 weeks with free bar for you to network.
UBS didn't shirk at trying to personally develop each individual they give a lot of support and trying, the assumption is that assuming you have the right attitude, everyone could come back and work for them in the future.

The organisation is constantly concerned by your development, giving regular reviews on your performance so you know what to do to improve. It is made clear from the off that If everyone is good enough and committed enough then there will be a job waiting for everyone at the end of the internship.
The Culture
Everyone was very nice, interns were constantly organising events outside of the organisation, meaning that if you so desired there were social/sporting events or casual drinks to attend 3/4 nights of the week.
Being in London you can expect the prices to be very high, however the internship salary more that makes up for this. UBS also makes an effort to help you find cheap accommodation.
London is of course one of the best places to go out in, there are clubs/pubs/bars of every variety open every day of the week. UBS office itself is located very close the the 'hipster' area Shoreditch and 15 minutes from leicester square/piccadilly.
UBS is very committed to charities meaning there are several days you can attend throughout the course of your internshpi, further more UBS internship sports teams are created to compete against other banks. UBS even provide you with your own kit if you ask!
