The Role
I think this work placement was relatively fun. The hours were slightly longer than I expected, but I didn't really mind staying late on occasion.
I liked my team environment. Whilst I was not always undertaking the most interesting tasks, I felt like I was helping out my colleagues.
I was not given very much feedback, and I did not feel that comfortable asking for more. More structured feedback would have been nice.
It very much depended on the day. Some days were very hectic, and I would stay late. Others I had very little to do.
I feel like I was sometimes given quite a lot of responsibility, doing tasks reporting to senior management etc.
The only skill I feel I have really developed over this internship is my confidence. I have learned little about accounting/finance.
The Company
The office had a relatively good atmosphere, not the best due to the current situation at UBS.
Very well organised. Could have had more consistency across departments, however. The department I was in had far fewer events put on than the others. I felt we were somewhat ignored, because they had scrapped the graduate program for our area.
We got three days good training, but after this I felt the relevance of work/training could have been improved. Other departments received weekly training, buddy lunches, networking, events etc and we were given nothing.
Flexi Time
Company Parties/Events
Healthcare from home
Whilst I am very unlikely to get a job (they have scrapped the finance graduate program), I would like to work for UBS in future.
The Culture
Loved my time with the other interns.
Central London is very expensive!
Nightlife around the office is poor, but close by in London it's good.
One outside-office activity, a rounders game.
