    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • It was very volatile. The internship began slowly before picking up speed, which was highly enjoyable. However, after I was transferred to another team the internship lost momentum again, and it was a struggle to keep myself busy, due to lack of proper training.

    4/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • Initially it was just my manager and I, which was a nice relationship. However, when I moved to a team then I felt very much a part of the community.

    4/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • Both managers tried to be helpful, but unfortunately were extremely busy and struggled to make time for me.

    3/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • See above -- there were periods of both, but definitely not enough busy overall.

    3/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • Lots with my first manager, less with my second

    5/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • Not quite related to my degree but the soft skills will absolutely help my career advancement and competency, regardless of business area.

    5/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • Friendly and helpful, with a desire for excellence across the board.

    4/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • Unfortunately my manager was incorrectly labelled as someone not my manager, so the manager I worked for was barely aware of the internship procedures. Additionally, both of my managers had not prepared enough beforehand for my arrival, so it took quite some time before I was assigned any tasks to work on.

    2/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • Visibly a lot.

    4/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Subsidised Canteen

    Sports and Social Club

    Subsidised/Company Gym

    Company Parties/Events

    Healthcare from home

    3/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • Would love to return, especially if I were working in a position similar to that of my first manager due to the high levels of busyness and focus required, which I enjoyed.

    4/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • My experience meeting the other interns was the highlight of my placement.

    5/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • Relatively high, but that was inevitable.

    4/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • Naturally very good.

    4/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • Not necessarily company-sponsored, but yes they were available.

    4/5
