The Role
This internship involved managing my own project from start to finish, so was very difficult to begin with when I was learning the ropes, with not a lot of time to spare, given the short time I was at Tesco. As I got more comfortable, the whole thing became much more fun.
Everyone was really helpful and friendly. They always had time to answer questions, even I felt like the answer must be super obvious!
There was a lot of support in terms of personal development, but support in your project was not given to you unless you asked for it. You're on your own unless you specifically alert your line manager to needing help.
Some days were busier than others, but overall, the ballance was good.
I was given lots of responsibility, as I was managing my own project.
I think this internship gave me a chance to see what it could be like to work in business, and opened my eyes to the variety of jobs I could take after I graduate. I don't think it's particularly relevant to my degree, but some of the business students who interned with me are using it as a basis for their dissertations.
The Company
It was a very positive, friendly office. Fridays, everyone is really jolly!
And it was the first one - very impressive!
Loads. More investment in our development than in our project work
If they like me, they'll offer me a place on the graduate scheme for next year - which I won't have to interview for.
The Culture
Yes, but I was acting as a carer during this time, so I wasn't involved much. Those who were have been very positive about it.
Most socialissing is in London, so it's pricey, but you can just about scrape funds together from the pay you get.
Not great, but you can get into London really easily if you want a good night out.
Some, but you had to ask for them, and sometimes it was difficult to know where and who to ask about these things.
