The Role
The placement grew more enjoyable as it progressed
My team were friendly and appreciative
I was given some support and guidance. It was there when needed but I had to actively seek any form of support.
At the beginning I was not busy at all and had to volunteer for more work. Towards the end it became more balanced.
I was given little responsibility to begin with but this grew.
I received no training and have developed few technical skills. I have developed a more professional character but little else.
The Company
Fairly dull. There were a few initiatives in the office to make it more enjoyable but often it felt like a standard office environment.
Well organised with further events such as team work and presentation skills. The accomodation was provided. Expenses were very hard to claim and this process took an extremely long time.
We had a few development days but little certification or training. These development days often felt unrelated to my role.
A job could be had quite easily if interested. 80% retention from summer schemes
The Culture
Good at weekends but very little happening in evenings. The opportunity was there but the area was very expensive to live in.
The cost of living was very high due to being close to London and in an affluent area.
Not much about in the direct location but the nightlife in surrounding towns was not too bad. Windsor offered some activities.
Many opportunities to volunteer and visit other places around the country. I was able to go to wales for a day. Other students competed in challenges for charity.
