The Role
Unfortunately I chose (my bad) the wrong stream for my liking, and thus my enjoyment of work was not as high as it could have been. By speaking to other interns I do know that Centrica offers brilliant internships, but just be aware of what stream you are aiming yourself towards.
The first thing that striked me working at Centrica/British Gas was that no matter how senior, people always had time for you and were as kind to you as anyone.
This went up and down a lot in waves, but I generally had a lot to fill my days with, and could always ask for more if it did not suffice!
I was given a lot of responsibility and nwas pushed to stretch myself frequently. I got to own projects, chair meetings and teleconferences and be the first point of contact and reference.
The Company
The office I worked in (IT/MI mainly) was quite dull and serious.
A clear structure was set from the start and generally made clear to us from the beginning.
We had both excel courses and presentation courses which were compulsory, but could also ask for additional training in other fields.
National Travel
It's not the right company for me, mainly due to stream and location.
The Culture
The company lodged the interns in the same halls which meant that we were about 40 interns living together.
Living in Egham does not provide for much fun and socialising, but the company provided free accommodation (rubbish accommodation, but free still), so this did not cost a thing
