The Role
I really enjoyed the 10 week placement, from the projects I was involved in to the relaxed but professional atmosphere that the company has.
I felt my opinion and views were greatly valued by my colleagues, I got on very well with them all and I feel like the work I did was of a very high quality and will prove to be very useful to my colleagues in the future after I've left.
The support was excellent from my team and collagues, the Grad teams support was very good but not excellent.
The 5 projects I was involved in were all very full on and I was busy throughout my placement - from day one to today (the last day!).
In each of the projects I was given objectives, and in order to complete those objectives I had to meet deadlines with other colleagues, arrange meetings and host visitors.
Hugely. The presentation training I received was invaluable as well as the improvement in my analytical skill - I will definitely use those skills again during my time at university and also in further jobs/placements.
The Company
The atmoshpere in the organisation is second to none, its a very professional atmoshpere but also relaxed. It is performance based, if your work is done by 4 - your day is done. If you need to stay to midnight to meet a deadline - so be it.
I thought the organistion from the Grad Team could have been better, getting all my equipment sorted (laptop/mobile) and sorting my ID pass out at the start all took too long and the processes in place to perform those tasks need to be improved.
Centrica put on and paid for a 'Presentation with Impact' day, this was very useful and helped me gain some really good presentation advice and feedback.
Flexi Time
Subsidised Canteen
Sports and Social Club
Subsidised/Company Gym
Staff Sales/Staff Shop
The summer placement's aims is to be a stepping stone for the Graduate Scheme, so if you perform well over the summer placement then the employment prospects are high!
The Culture
I believe so, however I wasnt living at the same place as other students.
As there is a canteen at the office, there is little need to spend money around the Windsor area. But the odd pint here and there was reasonably priced.
I have hear good things about Liquid in Windsor, I went one night. It was great fun, morning was a bit interesting though!
There were many opportunities.
