The Role
A placement with Centrica is a really positive experience, all the way from learning about finance to chilling with the other interns in the evenings!
My colleagues treated me like one of the team from day one.
I was given work whenever requested, sometimes there was tiny lag between these pieces of work, but generally great.
The level of responsibility was perfect for an internship, we were all given valuable, interesting and relevant projects.
I have learnt a lot on this placement, lots of new skills to take forward to uni next year and other things i'll be involved in.
The Company
Despite being placed in an important financial team, there was still a really good atmosphere around the office. We even had a great british bake of style cake competition!!
Mixed, some projects were really well structured others were slightly beyond the reach of an intern with limited access to systems!
I attended finance and accounting training, excel training, a finance conferenct and tours of other offices. This was all to expand my knowledge of finance and the wider business.
There are really good opportunities to go from the summer placement to the Graduate scheme! Many of the current grads that i have talked to whilst here started on the summer placement!! Unfortunately I don't hear about whether I am on the grad scheme until tomorrow, fingers crossed.
The Culture
You live with the other summer placement students so you have the opportunity to spend evenings and weekends with them. We went on nights out, to thorpe park and for meals; a really nice balance of activities.
Accommodation was provided, which was such a bonus!
There is so much to get involved in! Including an opportunity to raise money for charity in teams, we took part in this and had a great time raising money for a great cause!
