The Role
Really well organised internship, interesting work, good amount of work too.
Felt part of the team from the start. My work was valued which was a big boost to my enjoyment of the internship.
Good support on the whole. Assigned a mentor & buddy as points of contact.
I was working on my own project, so I was as busy as I wanted to make myself. Just progressed at my own pace most of the time. Occasionally required to get code written in a certain time-frame.
My work was important to the team, but I didn't have enough responsibility to screw things up.
Very valuable experience. Great to get to know what it's like to work in a large organisation like this. Technical skills will also be very useful.
The Company
Fairly relaxed atmosphere. The occasional tense moments when things go wrong.
Very well run by HR. Good events both during work time and outside of work.
First week was entirely training. Then there were also a few training days during the internship.
Subsidised/Company Gym
Company Parties/Events
A lot of technology interns are offered full-time positions after the internship.
The Culture
Team organised drinks once a month. Plenty of other interns to get to know and socialise with.
Socialising is predictably expensive in London.
Reasonable if you know where to go.
There are lots of charity/sporting etc activities going on.
