About You
Yes, it was a really enjoyable experience and I met some lovely people.
Everyone was very lovely to us, particularly the graduate recruitment team and the members of the department that I was placed in (projects).
There were regular structured sessions as well as the time in your department. In the department, I had a specific trainee who was assigned as my mentor and guided me through the work to be done.
The information will help me to put many of my relevant law and business modules in a practical context.
The Company
We had a very well planned timetable, with a wide variety of sessions.
The general atmosphere was very good and everyone on the scheme enjoyed the experience.
We completed several skills sessions and the opportunity to actually get involved in work at the firm was definitely beneficial.
The insight really helped me to understand what it would be like to work at the firm, particularly at trainee level. The opportunity to be placed in a department was a big contribution to this.
The week gave a brilliant insight into the culture of the firm; it came across as friendly and forward-thinking.
The week has helped confirmed my decision to follow a career in commercial law.
Everything Else
I was paid £250.
There were several opportunities to meet employees at the firm and ask any questions, including networking with different practice areas and drinks evenings.
There were two drinks evenings, on the Monday and Thursday. There were also several structured networking events.
Yes, there are a variety of extra-curricular activity. The focus on art was particularly unique.
I would recommend the insight to a friend if they are considering a career in commercial law or at Simmons & Simmons.
