The Role
Work got more interesting towards the end of my placement
My colleagues are all very friendly
My manager was really nice, he gives me guidance whenever I needed any
It was a good mix, I wasn't too stressed out by work and I was not bored either
I was given a task to investigate in the practicalities of a hardware accelerator, it was not crucial to the main project but it was useful to the team
I learnt new programming languages, how to use the shell and a lot in computer architectures which are definitely useful towards my degree studies
The Company
The office is usually quiet since everyone is so focus on their work. Lunchtime get a bit more lively
Overall it was set up very well.
There were a lot of Lunch and Learn sessions that I enjoyed
Subsidised/Company Gym
They are constantly hiring and the company is expanding very quickly
The Culture
The fellow placement students meet up in lunchtimes and weekends
Accommodation and socialising is cheaper than London
I have not been out during my placement, but I do not think there's a lot of nightlife in Cambridge
There are occasional activities during weekends.
