The Role
This was difficult at first, as you're given completely free-rein over a project, which is actually pretty daunting given the size of the business. As I got further in, I got to my feet a bit better and started to really enjoy myself.
People here are really friendly and warm, and always willing to lend a hand. They look out for you, and value your opinions and ideas.
Some support was given, but this internship is about finding your own way. Help and support is there if you need it, but you have to ask.
Some days were manic, some were pretty quiet, but it balanced out quite nicely.
You're responsible for your own project, so everything is entirely up to you!
There are more life skills taken away from this than anything that's particularly relevant to your degree. Personal development is really big here, so you're sure to take something away with you.
The Company
There is always an upbeat atmosphere, even when the pressure is on. Dress-down Fridays are incredibly jolly.
Impressive, given that this was the first year
Personal development is huge - more important that your project work,
The internship scheme follows straight on to the grad scheme, if they like you - with no need to be reassessed.
The Culture
I hear there was, though I was acting as a carer for an elderly relative during my placement, so I was not personally involved. Others have been very positive about social events.
Depends if you're living in Welwyn Garden City or, as some poeple did, in London. Welwyn is reasonably priced.
Welwyn has no night life, but it's a shiort train ride away from London
Some, like a pub quizz and inter-intern games, but not much else that wasn't a night out organised by interns.
