    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I really enjoyed my placement and the day to day work. The members of my team were fun but hardworking and I learned a lot.

  • I was included quite well before my presentation but felt like a more respected member of the team afterwards.

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • The members of my team were vary helpful when I asked questions, but was left up to my own devices most of the time. That was good though because the work I produced at the end felt truly like my own.

  • Not too busy in general. It varied from day to day but normally didn't have too much work.

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I was given the task of conducting a market review and presenting my findings to my team. some of the recommendations I put forward are now being implemented.

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I've improved my public speaking skills as well as my IT skills which will both aid me in my future career.

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • There was a great atmosphere in the office. Lots of jokes when people weren't working.

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • A well organised placement with clear aims and objectives set out and well designed progression upon successful completion.

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • My personal development goals were set out at the start and I was given assistance in helping to achieve these. If my internship had been longer, e.g the graduate scheme, then there would have been time for me to go on training courses which is great.

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • If a referal is achieved after completion of a successful placement, I have the option to go straight onto the graduate scheme with a guaranteed job at the end of it.

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • Really good. Went for drinks a least once a week and lots of us got on really well

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • I was in Leeds so about middle of the road.

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • Great nighlife in Leeds. lots of clubs and bars and a big student scene.

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • Not too many in the 10 weeks, but I took part in a charity challenge to raise as much money for Alzheimer's society. There were lots of opportunities for permanent employees to raise money by completing various challenges etc.
