The Role
Learnt a great deal during my time, was given challenging work as well as more straightfoward tasks. Very relaxed atmosphere, you would come in for 9, and leave any time past 6.30 depending on how urgent the work you're working on is for. It wasn't about face time as long as you were completeing your work!
My colleagues always madee me feel welcome, very friendly people no matter how senior they were. The work given would be used by the firm and so I felt like a valued colleague.
Very approachable if I had any challeneges/questions
At times, particualrly at the start I had less work but this had compeltely picked up by the mid term.
One project I was given a lot of independence, challenging at first however was given help when I needed it and worked was checked. Found it beneficial seeing as my work would actually be used by the firm.
Not so much for my studies, unless I was doing a finance course/ degree/ module but if I wanted a career in finance then it was definitely a good way to learn what the job involves. A steep learning curve but worthwhile.
The Company
Very relaxed atmosphere, firendly work environment, met a wide range of people with lots of different personalities and so it's welcoming to everyone.
The internship was set up well, we had a week worth of training and then 8 weeks with the team you were assigned to. Socials were every two weeks and so there perhaps could have been more of these. In terms of the work given, this was depedent on your team rather than having projects set out beforehand.
We had a weeks woth of training on excel/powerpoint/work place etiquettel/ financial modelling
Subsidised Canteen
The division has started to hire more graduates and interns which is a positive sign.
The Culture
Work dependent we would socialise with the other interns, but this was rare as most worked in the investment banking division and would work longer hours. When we did have scheduled events, most would come
Worked in liverpool street/moorgate but lived at hime so the cost for food was relatively expensive but as you're earning it more than covers the costs.
There are a few bars near by and shoreditch isn't a far walk
Not so much as an intern, but once a colleague you can get involved in the foundation.
