    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • They work you hard but your hours aren't as terrible as other places at all and it's such a supportive, friendly environment that you actually want to be there and doing the work - not just another paper pusher in a dull corporate environment.

    5/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • The support and culture at LBG is brill! You have so many people who are probably a lot more senior to yourself, willing to share their 2 cents without you asking - no one treats you like someone that's asking too many questions or taking them away from their own work. Many colleagues offered to book in time to sit down and talk through their work for half an hour or so if I was so inclined...

    5/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • Support across the group and the value placed on Grads is absolutely incredible - you won't get this sort of support at other banks for sure!

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • My placement was a bit different to most - our busiest period was July where my hours were not always a simple 9-5 however, by August and September there was a lot less to do. Nonetheless I was given projects and opportunities to shadow other teams simply because I asked, during quieter periods.

    4/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • My team was a member down so I was fully accountable for the work I did and given real work as well - saying this, there was so much support that it wasn't more daunting than could be handled!

    5/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I did so many different things, from presentations, to just staying organised and on top of things during a really busy period that I can't imagine it not helping me in any future challenges!

    5/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • Cheerful but with a good work ethic. Some parts of the office were certainly more chatty than others but quite a young, friendly crowd.

    4/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • Really thought out, as well as taking my own suggestions and interests on board - giving me the opportunity to tailor quieter times to suit my own curiosity about other divisions or teams while also giving me a strong foundation into my own team's work.

    5/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • Weekly one to ones with line manager, objectives set and reviewed throughout the ten weeks and also assigned a buddy who is a grad that I can talk to informally and off the record!

    5/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • 3/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • Haven't found out my own review outcome but from what I've gleaned the referral rate is quite high and there's always other options from networking etc

    4/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • I've heard that last year was brill for inter intern socials and the Bristol placement and Leeds placement were both quite exciting this year as well however I was in London and I think it wasn't as amazing as it couldn't have been though this is more down to the intake year than the spread of interns in offices and locations... There was a potential, it just wasn't met as well as it could have been this year. Colleague socials were great though and with charity challenges etc there's always events to take part in!

    3/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • Lived at home but London is London - not cheap...

    3/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • Again nightlife in london is great if you actually take advantage of it... Of course it comes at a higher price than other areas of the UK

    5/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • With everyone raising money for our charity of the year and Yoga classes etc held in the building there were definitely things to do outside of work!

    5/5
