The Role
I thorougly enjoyed my job as a whole. My role was challenging with different days bringing different tasks and varying work hours. The people were fantastic and there was a very good team spirit in everything we did, be it work, playing football or nights out on the town.
My role was challenging because I was an important member of the team adding value to the entire project. As a global lead people had to send in reports to me and I in turn had to design a method of quickly and efficiently collating them into a tabular and graphical method so as it was easy for both the client and the global team members to see whether targets were being met, and if not, identifying how to try to solve the problems with my manager.
In every step that I took I was given support, guidance and contructive criticism to ensure that my work met the high standards expected by the client and Accenture.
On average I was relatively busy. Some days were very intense and other days were slow moving. It gave me very good insight into how variable the hours of a consultant can be. However on days when the entire team was not very busy, instead of putting in face time, we were allowed to leave the office and go home.
I was given a large amount of responsibility during the project, performing tasks that other team members and managers relied upon to enable them to do their jobs effectively.
All the skills gained during the placement will be invaluable to me. Communications and interpersonal skills coupled with good organisation, persuasiveness and presentation efficiency are all key to succeeding in any workplace in area area of any business.
The Company
The general atmosphere was lively, but professional in the office.
The overall scheme was in general very well organised. There was an initial problem regarding reception of company credit cards to pay for our expenses, however these were resolved and I believe Accenture will learn from it's mistakes and it will not be an issue in the future.
In terms of personal training and development the company gave the interns the basic training that first year analysts would recieve, however it was not as intense, including some in depth training in Microsoft Excel and Powerpoint. The remainder of the training was left to us to show some intuition and access the large online database (if we had spare time in the office) with all the training for the company available and pick and choose which would be relevant to us in the workplace and for the future.

Accenture gives excellent training and excellent opportunity to travel, develop and grow in a constantly changing consulting environment. I believe it is a great place to work. Although financial compensation for a full time job could be better, the expenses and additional company perks really make up for it.
The Culture
Due to the nature of the placement (people being on project sites around the country from Monday to Thursday and then staying in university accomodation from Thursday night till Sunday) the environment was perfectly tailored for students to bond and make friends (much like university life).
All living costs and most socialising costs were paid for by Accenture whilst working on the client site. However when back in London, socialising was very expensive although definitely worth it for the experience.
Manchester and London night life was fantastic.
There were numerous sports clubs outside of work and the interns also had a charity day organised where we all helped to paint a school in an impoverished area of London.
