About You
It was a very enjoyable experience. Although I had real work to do, social activities were scheduled in and everyone was friendly.
Staff at every level made me feel inclusive and a valued part of the team, always inviting me to team meetings and social events.
A lot of support was available - I was allocated both Supervisors and Trainee Mentors and had regular feedback meetings. Through working alongisde a trainee solicitor I received an excellent insight into life at the firm.
Learned all basic office skills from photocopying/IT systems which will be relevant in any administrative job, as well as learning more specific skills for the legal sector.
The Company
The two weeks were very structured, with timetabled inductions and various meetings, as well as being allocated someone to work under each day.
Although I was assigned a lot of work to do, the people around me were good fun which created a good atmosphere.
A lot was invested in vacation students, both in terms of money spent on lunches etc and timewise.
It was a brilliant opportunity to see what day to day life is like in the firm, both through experiencing it personally and hearing about others who have been there longer.
I am now much more aware of the companies culture, having attended various presentations, for example on Corporate Social Repsonsibily and hearing about things the firm have done in the local community.
I am now fully certain that I want to pursue a career in this field, as well as having gained an insight into which areas of commercial law I like best.
Everything Else
In addition to receiving pay, I also received a lot of free lunches/dinners.
Yes we were invited to any events which were happening in the office, as well as being introduced to everyone in our departments.
Very well organised, fully funded and good fun.
Yes we had presentations on Corporate Responsibilty iniatiatives, as well as hearing
Definitely, great experience and looks great on your CV
