The Role
Really enjoyed the placement, was really well organised with an induction week to give us a grounding in what we needed to know. Once at the office everyone was very helpful and I was given relatively interesting tasks to complete, with real responsibility by the end. Got an offer for the grad scheme and going to accept it
Felt like the work I was doing was helping to complete the audit, and I think my colleagues appreciated this. I was treated as someone who was a full time employee, which was great as it gave me the chance to really get to grips with what the job was like.
Was always given help when I asked, sometimes I has to wait, but this is understandable given how busy everyone is with their own work. My people manager kept in touch with me to ensure that I was getting on OK.
Varied depending on the client I was working on, but generally i always had something to do. Was particularly busy when working at the client site.
My obviously limited knowledge limited the responsibility I could realistically be given, however I had meetings with the client by myself and was able to go to the client with any questions I had about my work, and I was encouraged to do this. This is one of the aspects I liked the most.
Time management was probably the biggest thing, at uni you have so much time that you never really appreciate as you do when working. So this is one skill that I have learnt. Also communicating in a professional way, especially with clients is a useful skill.
The Company
Overall very good atmosphere. Drinks organised every week. I was also able to attend business unit socials and the business unit AGM. Everyone was friendly and seemed to get on. Because the is quite a large intake each year, there are lots of people in your position, so socially that is quite good when you first join.
Very well organised, was always clear what we needed to do/where we needed to be etc, and if not could always ask and they were more than happy to help
The first week was and induction, 3 days of which were in a very nice hotel with great facilities. Was a very useful time to learn technical topics and also meet the other interns from across all of the offices. We also had to set objectives for our internship with our people managers and these were reviewed against evidence with the people we had worked with. So there was a real focus on personal development
Company Parties/Events
Got place on grad scheme and going to accept it, very good offer with great prospects going forwards, so wouldn't really consider looking elsewhere
The Culture
Pretty good, we met up for drinks and stuff every week, and kept up to date which could have been difficult given most of us were out of the office at our clients
Office in middle of London, so what you would expect really! Quite expensive, but then as you are in London there is lots of choice.
Lots of bars etc, office was in the middle of London, so as you would expect there was lots of choice near to the office
Attended the business unit AGM and socials, and other drinks, so there was stuff going on outside of work. There were also other things that go on like csr days, but it was hard to get involved with these during the short time we were there
