The Role
It really is what you make it - handle the easy tasks thrown your way early on, and your team will give you more challenging and interesting work soon enough. Much of the more enjoyable aspects of this internship were self-created - make sure to be proactive in seeking out opportunities and reaching out to as many people as possible. UBS is a fantastic environment with loads of opportunities - but if you expect to be pushed into taking these opportunities, prepare to be disappointed.
Not so much at first, but gradually more and more.
Fortnightly catch-ups with my line manager. Lots of help on hand from a wide variety of co-workers on a wide variety of issues, queries, etc.
Varied day-to-day. Some days hectic, some days not so much. Averaged about 50 hours a week.
Gradually more and more. Room to show initiative.
Positive. More of an attitude adjustment than a knowledge upgrade.
The Company
Such good craic! Busy, but friendly.
Lots of events and academy sessions.
A week of lectures and stuff like Excel training, as well as an online course before. Decent.
Subsidised Canteen
Company Parties/Events
The Culture
Yes - uni-style nights out, pints after work, dinners, lunch together every day, 7-a-side football, etc, etc
It is London, but a little bit of savviness went a long way
