The Role
They would explain things to us generally, but when they were busy there was very little guidance.
Most of the time I was really busy, and there wasn't too much facetime for me personally, however I know interns on other desks who were less busy.
A fair amount of responsibility, at first things were constantly checked over by more senior colleagues, but as they began to trust me they gave me more responsibility.
Learnt a lot, particularly excel and powerpoint skills. Learnt way more than I have in my entire degree so far.
The Company
People were really busy and quite stressed. Occasionally it would be good fun - typically later at night or on the weekends when it was more junior people there.
A lot of speaker events were cancelled, people didn't really get the desk choices they wanted. However, there were occasional evening events and we had a week of training.
We had a week of training at the start of the internship, and employees were generally willing to teach you things while on the job.
Subsidised Canteen
Subsidised/Company Gym
Company Parties/Events
Have not found out about offers yet, but got the impression that headcount has been cut so the intake will be very low this year.
The Culture
The interns generally wanted to do things together, particularly on Friday nights. However, limited opportunities generally due to long hours.
Canary Wharf is fairly expensive compared to other areas, but relative to earnings it is affordable!
