    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • 4/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • 3/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • They would explain things to us generally, but when they were busy there was very little guidance.

    4/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • Most of the time I was really busy, and there wasn't too much facetime for me personally, however I know interns on other desks who were less busy.

    5/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • A fair amount of responsibility, at first things were constantly checked over by more senior colleagues, but as they began to trust me they gave me more responsibility.

    4/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • Learnt a lot, particularly excel and powerpoint skills. Learnt way more than I have in my entire degree so far.

    5/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • People were really busy and quite stressed. Occasionally it would be good fun - typically later at night or on the weekends when it was more junior people there.

    2/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • A lot of speaker events were cancelled, people didn't really get the desk choices they wanted. However, there were occasional evening events and we had a week of training.

    2/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • We had a week of training at the start of the internship, and employees were generally willing to teach you things while on the job.

    5/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Subsidised Canteen

    Subsidised/Company Gym

    Company Parties/Events

    3/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • Have not found out about offers yet, but got the impression that headcount has been cut so the intake will be very low this year.

    2/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • The interns generally wanted to do things together, particularly on Friday nights. However, limited opportunities generally due to long hours.

    4/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • Canary Wharf is fairly expensive compared to other areas, but relative to earnings it is affordable!

    4/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • 3/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • 3/5
