The Role
I had a fantastic year at Mars Information Services working in the HR team and gained fantastic experience across a wide range of activities
Mars is a people organisation that values its associates highly. I was given high levels of responsibility and received feedback on my performance throughout. Particularly in situation where I had performed well I received fantastic recognition.
I received a great deal of support from my line manager, my team and other associates throughout the year.
Every day was different, it is an extremely face paced and ambiguous organisation and change happens often! But I liked the business and the variety the job gave me.
I was given a huge amount of responsibility from the outset owning and managing a variety of tasks, projects and activities. The company put a lot of trust in you as an IP student and provide you with a safe environment in which to learn, which is particularly valuable when things don't go to plan!
Not only do you learn on the job, functional skills but you also gain a greater understanding about yourself and your own abilities. You are encouraged to develop yourself in every situation and this is something I will do now in any future job.
The Company
A great open plan office with friendly helpful, and incredibly knowledgeable and experienced people.
The programme has been running for many years now so it was faultless from a process perspective but the freedom at Mars allows each new student to shape their own role.
Highly valued at Mars, IP students get the same treatment. I underwent both a mid year and end of year review with a lot if activity throughout focusing on personal development. Training courses are also funded by Mars where applicable.

The Culture
There was a group of 9 students in Mars information services and we all go along well, socialising often out of work.
Fairly expensive if renting independently.
5 minute train to Windsor and 20 minute train to London.
Things onsite and many nights out with associates.
