The Role
My work was very enjoyable due to the interesting and unique technical challenges presented
While it is difficult to make yourself indispensible in such a short period, I felt that I was very much part of the team by the end of my placement
There is a lot of expertise here at Nomura as long as you are not afraid to ask
I tried my best to get as much work as possible but like any jobs there can be luls in how busy you are
I was given a very high amount of responsibility for someone only on a placment
My basic programming skills improved dramatically thanks to my role in IT, but I also vastly improved my ability to communicate and work with others
The Company
The team I was working with were highly enjoyable people to be around and made a very good atmosphere within the team
Nomura offer a good structure to help you settle in to your placment with frequent contact from HR and senior business figures
At the start of the placement I was given a crash course in Finance. After I joined my team, they were very forthcoming in helping me develop the skills I needed for my role

Nomura have a high uptake from its inter classes and is one of the best ways to get a role here
The Culture
There are a large number of interns at Nomura, and HR try to create events to facillitate getting to know other interns from across all areas of the business
The main office is located in the City of London, so prices are quite expensive if you don't know where to go
There is a vast variety of nightlife within walking distance of the building, from traditional pubs to trendy bars
Nomura offer opportunities to get highly involved with its charity partners throughout the year aswell as offering a wide array of social activities
