The Role
I worked within Finance. I found the work a bit slow to start with but it really picked up about 3 weeks in. I learnt a lot about organisation as a whole from a back office perspective. My Excel skills went from non-existent to very strong!
My team were a very social bunch, always up for drinks/team lunches. My work was used by everyone as I produced a daily report. Everyone was approachable and willing to help, and up for a laugh.
I was never afraid to ask questions and everyone always had the time to asnwer them.
Some days I would be working and wouldnt notice the time pass because I was so busy but other days were more quiet. I usually got in around 8.30 and finished around 6.30pm, but some days I was adone by 5pm, and my team were happy to let me off early!
I was responasible to produce a daily report, which wasdone before I joined and will continue to be done after I leave. Therefore this job was imortant to the team, and my work was of real value.
The skills I mainly developed would be Excel skills, and communication skills. Althuogh these do not directly relate to mmy degree, they are highly transferable and desirable in the working world and therefore will definately assist me when looking for a full time role.

The Culture
There is a great mid-term and end of itnernship party organised by the firm with a good bar tab!
London is expensive wherever you stay within zone 1-2 but lucky for me, my family home is in London so I was able to avoid paying high rent.
The offices are ocated next door to an great bar called the Oyster Shed which is literally full of Nomura employees every night! (Great networking opportunity!) Also, you are a short walk to Shoreditch and St.Paul's with abundant social stuff.
There are charity days/events organised by the firm, and opportunities to join work sports teams
