The Role
Was genuinely fascinating and I found it far more enjoyable than I had been expecting.
Everyone in my team was exceptionally helpful and friendly and I feel very lucky to have had the opportunity to work with them.
Whenever I asked for guidance, I was given it. All my team were very patient and happy to explain things to me when necessary.
There were occasional days when I had very little to do, mainly due to colleagues being away or too busy. On the whole, however, it was a good balance.
I was able to work on planning and was able to meet several of the COO's to present my work to them. My work was useful to the team.
I learnt a lot about how to work in a business. Having previously had very little finance knowledge, I know feel very comfortable with it.
The Company
My floor was fairly quiet, but my team were fun. I understand other floors were more lively.
Really good, regular speakers gave me the chance to learn about other areas of the business and the social activities were great.
Seemed to spend a lot of time on me; my team particularly helped with personal development.
Subsidised/Company Gym
Have not yet found out but I am fairly optimistic.
The Culture
Reasonably good, but the disparity in working hours made it hard to really see each other. From interns at other banks I get the impression they socialised more than here.
As I had expected for Canary Wharf.
Very lively and busy.
I think there were sports clubs but I didn't take part
