The Role
The job experience is so real, it is infuriating when you are held back by the fact that you are leaving the company at the end of the placement. I was given so many opportunities and encouraged to push my own ideas and enthusiasm into the company.
It is a family, you don't need to spend every waking second with them but when you get into the office it's nice to feel like you are always with friends and that no matter what stress or strains might come your way, you will always be supported.
I couldn't have got a better manager than Jonathan Brewer, he helped guide my enthusiasm but was always keen to see me succeed at my work and was always open to discussion and suggestions.
I was incredibly busy, so busy I wondered how I was getting it all done but at the end of every day I was able to walk away having completed so much and was able to build my own enthusiasm for the work that I was doing. I want to give 10 but I had work for so many different things, It was hard somedays not to get dragged into doing things I didn't really have time for.
I was trusted to produce customer software, edit websites and handle customers from IT technicians to company MD's and I was always trusted to do what i thought was best. I was on the phones the first day in the office more than happy to help out and pull my weight and I was given more responsibility every time I showed further initiative.
I have developed so many skills and have had my CV shined up completely. My technical skills were developed and broadened and I have also increased my customer relations, time management, team management and business analysis skills. I feel ready for a real job and have been offered a new position as Ecommerce Technical Consultant after completing my degree. I feel like I have built all of the foundation skills required to go for any of the jobs I am interested in and have plenty of evidence to back that up.
The Company
The office was never quiet and you could speak to anyone, ask any questions and always feel part of the team. There were always events being planned and friendly people to help pass the time outside of work.
The Placement has been well developed and I was quickly brought into the team feeling like a real member of the team and not just a placement.
There was always lots of training and development available. I had 8 weeks of training early on and then was given time for work on many occasions which would help develop my own skills and also produce things for the company that would help.
Company Parties/Events
Working from home
I have been offered a Job in an entirely new position to start up and run a team of my own.
The Culture
Always able to organise events when wanted and enjoyed good relations with everyone in the company.
Oxford is not known for its cheap accomodation but we managed a reasonable cost and there is such a good social scene for me that I was always able to go out.
Just my sort of nights out.
Oxford has so much going on, by the time I left, I was busy every night of the week every week.
