The Role
I really enjoyed the internship at RBS. The program was very well structured with lots of activities to network with senior management and interns. The best part about the internship was the culture of RBS. The people are genuinely nice and try to help you out in any way possible. There was also a lot of focus on CSR with activities such as raising money for charities which helped to know other interns better.
The overall culture of RBS is very good with people always ready to help. However, the culture at your desk varies. Some desk give a lot of responsibilities to the interns whereas some not so much. But overall the people on desk were very respectful and gave serious work to the interns.
The support from line managers was quite good. It does vary for each desk but general consensus among interns was that all the line managers were quite supportive. If you have any questions people would give time to you and try to explain you in detail. The HR is always there to help and very supportive. I know people who have changed their rotations mid way by talking to the HR.
The responsibilities you are given on the desk depends partially on you and partially on the desk you are on. If you do good work , more and more responsibilities are given to you. It also depends on the desk because if you are on trading desk you are rarely given any real responsibilities whereas people in capital markets or advisory worked crazy hours.
As I mentioned above it depends on you. Personally, I got a lot of responsibilities and also got opportunity to talk to clients and deal with offices in Switzerland and Germany.
I feel the training I got is very useful and pertinent to my studies.
The Company
Great atmosphere. RBS culture is really good. Very helpful people.
The internship was very well organised and well set up. The HR was always available if anything went wrong. There were a lot of events such as sports day, drinks evenings etc.
The firm invested a lot of time for the training. However, the training was a bit basic in finance and excel.

I would love to get a return offer from RBS and I can see myself working with them in the long term. I loved the culture and my work.
The Culture
Yes . The interns were mostly undergraduate students and hence there was a good social scene. Everyone went for drinks on weekends etc.
Its London.
Its London..
There were few opportunities of going to team tournaments etc . Not a lot though. On the other hand there were a lot of intern activities to keep us busy.
