The Role
The environment is engaging though it is hugely dependent on where you are placed.
Again, some employees are incredibly helpful and welcoming, while others will be less approachable.
some people were very supportive while others gave no guidance whatsoever
relatively busy. Even if you aren't set anything specific, you can always be researching the markets/learning more about the job.
you cannot really be given much responsibility because you cannot trade/talk to clients.
gained a good foundation in markets-based knowledge, which will undoubtedly be useful in a future finance-related career.
The Company
quite dependent on the division you are in. Flow businesses tend to be more lively. On the whole a fun place to work
Well organised. The structure of the internship is made clear at the beginning.
The first week was dedicated to training, which was informative and useful. Following this there were lectures/workshops for the duration of the internship.
Company Parties/Events
A mixed bag: certain areas would be attractive while others would not be.
The Culture
Lots of after work drinks/activities put on for the interns.
London is expensive but you are well-compensated... you would struggle to finish your internship running a deficit.
Lots of bars/clubs
There are plenty of opportunities in London.
