The Role
I felt that I have learnt a lot throughout these 8 weeks. The rotation structure of the programme was good, shadowing and leadership speaker series seemed useful.
It was surprising how the management of my team was always open and available for help. I was given work that was later used by the team in their reports and presentations so I felt that my contribution was really valued.
They could most of the time spare several minutes. If not, they would suggest another time slot, but they would never refuse to help.
It varied a lot in the research team. For example, on Fridays, when the weekly publication was issued, there was no time to even get lunch. Sometimes, it was somewhat quieter. On average, I felt like the amount of work was reasonable if I worked hard and persistently.
I was given work that was later used by the team in their reports and presentations so I felt that my contribution was really valued. I also was taken on a client meeting ones, that made me feel that the manager trusts me to be in front of the client.
What I did was extremely useful for modules such as corporate finance, financial accounting, financial markets and economics.
The Company
People had fun sometimes, but not to the unreasonable extent.
Having a calendar, where all the events are booked really helped my planning. Events were announced in advance and some flexibility in terms of timing was always allowed.
Numerous trainings, seminars and a sport day made me feel that the company invests a lot into development and training of its junior staff.
Company Parties/Events
Having compared this internship with other banks, I feel that the culture, the atmosphere and professionalism would definitely make this employment opportunity appealing to me.
The Culture
Several drinks and other informal events were organised so I feel that I got to know many interns pretty well.
Pretty expensive by student standards.
Did not have a chance to experience nightlife near work so cannot say.
Things like volunteering, drinks and networking events were plenty.
