    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • A lot moe than expected to be honest. Th hours were pretty good the team welcoming, the work mostly interesting, management approachable and the other interns were friendly and not "back stabby" at all.

    5/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • The team did make special effort to include me in coversations and there was a good rapport wth myself and the whole team. In terms of my opinion in relation to work, considering that I was a summer analyst, pretty valued. No one was taking my ideas(if I ever had any) and making a pitch book out of them but the team did appreciate the ideas I had on some of the more interesting tasks and a few of them were used and taken into account.

    5/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • Associates and managers were always ready to answer a question or provide some guidance.

    4/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • Generally a really good balance. Not all the work was very urgent but there was almost always something to do. Stayed late a few times but more down to my speed than workload.

    5/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • Again not a massive amount but some of the tasks I worked on were quite important (relatively) and I did have a god amount of input on a lot of these

    4/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • Good knowledge of the different products and services a bank offers to its clients a better understanding of the job role. Good skills in terms of presentations, sumamrising key event in a company's results presentations, challenges facing the bank and corporates in my sector. Not a massive amount of technical knowledge given the sector but good skills in terms of identifying key items in a company's annual reports and understanding their strategy.

    4/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • A really lively and interesting team, I got the chance to know quite a bit of teams' background and how they got into banking. The office in general was quite relaxed considering the industry but I think my team was one of the more interesting ones.

    4/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • One or two hiccups with regards to I.T systems etc. but generally organised very well. I wasn't a massive fan of not knowing what sector you're joining till about a day before you join the desk but I think that's just how the internship has been done for the last few years.

    4/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • There are quite a few events put on to help you beter uderstand the company its businesses and the industry and my team (I cannot speak for every tema) really did try and give me a solid working understanding of the sector, its trends, challenges facing the corporates in the sector etc. However given the limited time frame with the bank the training before hand is not as extensive as it could have been especially in comparison to the full time graduate programme training schedule.

    4/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Subsidised Canteen

    Subsidised/Company Gym

    Company Parties/Events

    4/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • I haven't found out if I've got the job yet so can't be definite but I know that they have got space in coverage and they do( historially) take a ood percentage of summer analysts.

    4/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • There were people to go out with if you wanted to though many of the advisory/M&A/EC guys often just wanted a bed after work,

    4/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • Quite expensive but you're paid to reflect this so not too bad.

    3/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • I wish I could give a better review but i didn't really go out out much during the length of the internship. Other interns who went out a bitmore said it was pretty good though.

    4/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • HR did hold a few really good events throughout the internship which I won't mention so as not to ruin any surprises.

    4/5
