The Role
I really enjoyed it and it confirmed my career plans.
I think that everyone at RBS took me very serious and tried to make my time here as valuable as possible.
I felt that everyone was very open to helping me with any questions I had and people were usually available though that of course depended on how busy they were.
Depended on which desk I was on. In Capital Markets I was much busier than in Trading which was a result of the nature of the desk.
Especially in Capital Markets, I was given quite a bit of responsibility including tasks that were part of the desks routine whereas in Trading I was asked more to provide trading ideas or market overviews that were less necessary but still welcomed.
I will probably pick my dissertation topic for my BSc based on a desk that I was on. So it helped a lot with my degree.
The Company
It was a very nice, professional but still fun atmosphere (one of my teams went with me to a Softball tournament that they had).
From day one we had a schedule with all events that were going to happen and usually it was well organised.
We had a general training week at the beginning which was the main part of the development plus a few evening sessions throughout the internship.
Subsidised Canteen
Sports and Social Club
Company Parties/Events
As I very much enjoyed the teams that I was in, I think the prospects are very appealing.
The Culture
Yes, was a great spirit among the whole class and people socialised a lot.
Yes, regular drinks with colleagues and sports activities across the firm/division.
